COLE CURRIER - BRANSON SCHOOL BOARD CANDIDATE

The following survey questions were sent to all 2024 candidates.

This was Cole Currier's response:

1. What prompted you to run for this position?

As a graduate of Branson High School, my desire to serve came from a place of gratitude. I had such a great high school experience that I wanted to do my part to ensure similar opportunities and a strong culture continued to exist for the next generation.

2. What are your goals for the Branson School District if elected?

Currently, the Board and Administration have a shared vision of continuous improvement. Thankfully, so many things are going well, so it's just a matter of identifying and implementing small adjustments that can improve outcomes. In my six years on the Board, we've seen great progress in the areas of school safety, communications, community outreach, standardized testing reform, early childhood programming, and student success strategies.

3. What is the #1 issue you hope to address if elected?

I hope we can find ways to increase student engagement across our ever-widening demographic. Involvement in extra-curricular activities is a proven way to improve educational and social outcomes. We need to be sure that every child in our community has a strong connection to their school that will result in a brighter future for them individually and for our community as a whole.

4. On a scale of 1 to 5 (poor to excellent), how would you rate the transparency and communication of Branson's current Board of Education?

4. While there's always room for improvement, I have found that the board and administration are always open to dialogue on any topic of interest to community members.

5. Is there anything you want to change or improve in that regard?

The Board has emphasized continuous improvement in the area of transparency. To achieve this, we also need increased community engagement. The Board has been working to open new lines of communication, such as the Branson Schools Summit held last fall.

6. Branson's long-standing culture has been one of patriotism, Christianity, and family values; how would you support or change this culture as a Branson School Board Director?

I believe the core strength of our district is that the school's culture is reflective of our community's values. I will continue to guard that closely.

7. How would you define your political affiliation? Democrat, Republican, or other?

I am a proud Republican; however, I do not believe that partisan politics should play a role in public education. In my service to the School Board, I have one guiding principle: "What is best for the student?"
